Steel Day 2011 A Success, Congrats to iPad Draw Winner!
Supreme Group would like to give a BIG thank you to everyone who visited our three Edmonton-area facilities, Supreme Steel Bridge Division, Quality Fabricating & Supply, and Supreme Steel Acheson! Over 200 professionals and students attended our annual Steel Day events on September 23rd, while thousands of architects, engineers, contractors and students attended at the hundreds of other Steel Day events taking place across Canada and the United States.
Steel Day, for Supreme Group, is a hands-on, interactive day of learning about the steel industry. We had interactive tours for our visitors where our guests could try some tools of the trade, demonstrations from Infasco on bolt installation, and even an ironworker’s climbing structure at our Acheson facility. In addition to the hands-on activities, there were drafting modeling stations for our guests to see how buildings and other structures become reality, going from paper – to production. Careers - The Next Generation and Union representatives were also on site to answer any questions regarding careers in the steel industry.
In addition to all of this we had all our attendees participate in a draw to win an iPad. We are pleased to announce that Gordon Situ of Worley Parsons is the winner. We also had a contest running in our Acheson Building B to “guess the length of welding wire in the drum”. We hadt three prizes contributed by Praxair for the top three guesses. The answer is 75,000 feet, and the three closest guesses were:
Liam Baker of WFB with a guess of 74,000 feet;
Willie Olydam of CLAC with a guess of 72,000 feet; and,
Chantelle Dube with a guess of 78,500 feet.
Congratulations to all of the winners!
Steel Day is an annual national interactive networking event sponsored by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction and the American Institute of Steel Construction, its members and partners, and held at local venues throughout Canada and U.S. We hope to see you next year at Steel Day on September 28, 2012 so make sure you mark your calendars.
